Thomas Hall Shelby III is a semi-retired Consulting Actuary, who has served in various capacities on the Board of Directors, which he joined in 1997. His professional experience over the years lies in management of Life and Health Insurance Companies, retirement plan consulting, and other post-employment Benefits Consulting. Tom holds a BA from the University of Texas, Austin Texas, and a Master in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth, Texas. He also done some graduate study at Northeastern University, Boston Massachusetts. In addition to serving on the UGM Board, Tom is also a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, Associate Society of Actuaries, Fellow Conference of Consulting Actuaries, Enrolled Actuary, Actuaries Club of the Southwest, and the International Association of Consulting Actuaries. Tom also keeps busy with his involvement in the Texas Baptist Men Disaster Relief and the American Red Cross. He and his wife of 55 years, Christine, are actively involved with their church Cliff Temple Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas.
