Message from Chief Executive Officer

When you give to Union Gospel Mission, you help meet the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of the last, the least, the lost and the lonely in the Dallas area. Our goal is to restore homeless, hungry souls to a productive life by providing them with a foundation in the Christian faith, as well as needed life and job skills. We provide a bed, meals, chapel services, showers, on-site clinics and clothing to every man, woman and child who comes to our shelters.

Our long-term, faith-based rehabilitation program is called discipleship. This self-paced program combines basic services with Bible study, counseling, life-skill classes, preparation for employment, job training, and later, transitional housing. Throughout the program, disciples have ongoing access to our counselors. This program takes between 12 and 24 months to complete, and is provided free of charge.

We believe that rehabilitation begins when a person understands that there is a God who loves them and a Savior who died for them, and then acts on that information. Once that foundation has been laid, we move on to other issues that need to be confronted. We supply computer training, preparation for job search and transitional housing. Each person in our program maintains a strong relationship with his/her chaplain/counselor throughout the process. One of the criteria for graduation is having $2,000 in a savings account.

We have on-site clinics, a thrift store in Irving, an automobile donation program, and transitional living for up to 54 veterans, who have served their country but have now found life after the military to be difficult and extremely challenging.

Thank you for visiting the UGM website. We hope you enjoy learning about us and pray that you will be moved to help us minister to the last, least, lost and lonely here in Dallas. This is what we’ve been doing since 1949.
